Manpreet has graduated with Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle in Vancouver, BC in 2013. Her passion for counselling came from my prior experience of working as a family physician in India (for 13 years), supporting patients not only to their medical health needs of patient, but also to their emotional health needs (as such services were not readily available). It was this experience that led her to pursue counselling psychology when she migrated to Canada. These experiences have given her great insight into unique challenges that immigrants with different ethno- cultural backgrounds may face. Manpreet gained valuable experience at non-profit organizations and had the opportunity to work directly with families, individuals (with mental health and addiction issues) and enabling them discover their own strengths and barriers, and encouraging them to consider change. In one-to-one, couple, family and group settings, Manpreet has collaborated with clients to assess and assist them to achieve optimal mental, psychological, social, spiritual, and physical health. Her practice is guided by holistic approach with more emphasis on values and strengths-based approaches; and offers support and guidance to clients presenting with a variety of issues. Manpreet is familiar with evidence-based counselling interventions, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centred, strength-based, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, mindfulness, Positive Psychology, narrative therapy and Addiction counselling. Her role involves providing vocational and rehabilitation counselling to clients recovering from catastrophic accidents (MVA etc.), chronic illness, trauma and different life crises. Manpreet is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC. She provides counselling in English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.
