CUPPING THERAPY

Chronic Pain Got You Down? Cupping Treatment Could Help You Find Relief

Cupping is a type of pain-relieving therapy. Cups are suctioned into the skin during cupping to relieve pain, promote relaxation, enhance blood flow, and reduce inflammation.

Do you want to learn more about cupping and how it can help you relieve pain and discomfort while allowing you to resume your normal activities? Contact Beyond Physiotherapy right now or click here to schedule an appointment or learn more about how cupping might help you.

What Is Cupping?

Cupping, also known as “tissue distraction release,” is an old type of alternative medicine that was first utilized in ancient Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern societies to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.

Our Newton, Surrey, Fleetwood, and Langley physiotherapists apply inverted rubber pumps or silicone cups to your skin during cupping therapy at Beyond Physiotherapy. As the air in the cup cools, a vacuum is generated, causing the skin to raise and the blood vessels to enlarge. During the cupping technique, the cups are moved over various regions of the body to elevate and separate tissue.

As a result, neural tissues, fascia, skin, ligaments, muscles, and tendons loosen more easily. Cupping relieves muscle tension, releases trigger points, stimulates lymphatic flow, improves circulation, and breaks up scar tissue adhesion.

How Can Cupping Relieve Chronic Pain?

Evidence supports cupping as an effective treatment technique for many disorders, such as chronic neck pain, low back pain, and fibromyalgia.

This treatment has many advantages. It can improve your skin’s health, reduce respiratory difficulties, and even help with digestion. It is also used to hasten recovery and alleviate the symptoms of some accidents and illnesses.

While there are some common worries regarding cupping, it is a centrally validated procedure! The negative pressure formed by the suction in the cups helps to improve hydration and blood flow to body tissues, reduce bonding, and eliminate excess fluids.

It is important to be aware that cupping may cause circular bruises that can last up to two weeks on the skin. Bruises usually repair themselves over time, and they are not something to worry about!
